Hoteliers are delaying their decisions on whether to join the alternative state quarantine (ASQ) programme as the emergence of new local cases has slowed down bookings.
Marisa Sukosol Nunbhakdi, president of the Thai Hotels Association (THA), said operators are likely to wait for the distribution of vaccines globally, which could result in an easing of quarantine requirements for visitors inoculated against Covid-19.
Thailand is expected to maintain a mandatory quarantine rule throughout the year, but it is difficult to predict demand, said Mrs Marisa.

Despite the setbacks the country suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic, two of the Philippines’ popular island beach destinations have been listed by readers in the 25 Best Island Beaches in the World in 2020 organized by American travel publisher Condé Nast Traveler.

The Department of Tourism (DOT) cited the inclusion of White Beach on Boracay Island and El Nido, Palawan as the second and ninth best island beaches in the world in the prestigious list.
The recognitions came at a time when the country’s tourism industry is slowly recovering from the wrath of the ongoing global health crisis.
