Anyone who grew up with the He-Man cartoon and toy line got all the nostalgic feels recently. All upon seeing the new trailer for
Masters of the Universe: Revelation. The upcoming Kevin Smith animated series picks up right where that classic show left off. Yet it updates the action and visuals for the 21st century. One of the clever things the new trailer did was set the action to Bonnie Tyler’s 1984 hit “Holding Out for a Hero.” That just doubled down on the ’80s nostalgia of it all.
To hit even more of your nostalgic feels, YouTuber Darth Blender created their own version of the trailer. It uses footage from the cheese-fest live-action
•
Cree Summer as Priestess
• Kevin Conroy as Mer-Man
• And none other than Mark Hamill himself as old boney himself, Skeletor.
Plus, as a nod to the original series, listen out for the OS (Original Skeletor) Alan Oppenheimer as Moss Man
The war for Eternia culminates in
Masters of the Universe: Revelations, an innovative and action-packed animated series that picks up where the iconic characters left off decades ago. After a cataclysmic battle between He-Man and Skeletor, Eternia is fractured and the Guardians of Grayskull are scattered. And after decades of secrets tore them apart, it’s up to Teela to reunite the broken band of heroes, and solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to restore Eternia and prevent the end of the universe.
It was two years ago to the day that Centineo, star of
The Fosters and the
To All the Boys franchise, confirmed that he was set to play He-Man in the upcoming live-action reboot of
Masters of the Universe, based on the eternally popular toy line and animated series of the 1980s. Two years later, there’s been very little progress on the project and now it seems like it’s back at square one.
TheWrap reports that Centineo has quietly dropped out of the film, leaving the new He-Man without its new He-Man. (Dolph Lundgren played the role in the last live-action He-Man movie, which was released in 1987.) The trade confirmed the news with a Centineo representative, but were given no reason for the decision.
