STATESMAN POWER POLL: Members say they plan to get COVID-19 vaccine

As COVID-19 vaccines inch closer to widespread availability, Austin-area community leaders are eager to sign up to get vaccinated, according to results of the latest Statesman Power Poll. Most responding Power Poll members said they would get the vaccine and plan to scale back social gatherings during the holidays. But they were more split on whether to reopen schools for in-person instruction in the spring. The Statesman Power Poll surveys influential leaders in the Central Texas community every month about local and national topics. More than 800 members were surveyed, and more than 200 participated in the November poll. First, we asked: If approved for safety and made widely available, do you plan on getting a COVID-19 vaccine?

New Orleans influencers OK with no parades, masking 100 days, vaccines

Support canceling 2021 Mardi Gras season parades Are willing to wear face masks for another 100 days Look forward to getting inoculated - but would not pay good cash money to jump the line for vaccinations. That s what we found in this week s survey, amid moves to scrap or postpone parades in Jefferson and Orleans parishes, President-elect Joe Biden s call for 100 days of masking and the prospect of COVID-19 inoculations. Four out of five respondents said we should not have parades. If Mardi Gras was the ultimate superspreader for our community [in early 2020] and the pandemic is at its worst level yet, we would be beyond stupid to have Mardi Gras in early 2021, said Kingsley House CEO Keith Liederman.
