Old Rochester Regional School District Superintendent Michael Nelson updates the ORR School Committee on the ORRHS’s reopening.
Despite having the highest total number of covid cases in the district, the Old Rochester Regional High School has begun to allow sports and other after school activities. And district officials say the current partial in-person learning model is working well.
“I think that’s an important development for our school community,” ORRHS Principal Michael Devoll said.
The principal said administrators are starting to get the hang of how to conduct school activities safely during the pandemic.
But he said ORRHS still has some catching up to do with schools that had the opportunity to host extracurriculars in the fall.

Seven new covid cases were reported in the Old Rochester Regional School District on Jan. 14 and 15, bringing the district total up to 139 since its Sept. 16 reopening.
The 139-case total is a reflection of all the cases that have been contracted by members of the district since school reopened, not the number of active cases.
Two of the cases were found at Sippican School, and the other five were found in the Old Rochester Regional High School.
The positive individuals from Sippican School were last in the school building on Dec. 23, and the positive individuals from ORRHS were last in the school on Jan. 10, 11 and 12.
