Norwich Fringe Project: Looking after Norwich s countryside

How did you get involved?   When I was 15 I spent the summer volunteering with the British Trust for Conservation, now The Conservation Volunteers. Combined with meeting a countryside manager and doing Duke of Edinburgh Awards it gave me a passion for the outdoors. After school I worked in catering for four years but missed the great outdoors so went back to college and did a countryside management course. I had an amazing work placement with the Broads Authority and a few jobs later returned to Norwich in 1998 and here I am helping to manage the Norwich countryside.  Wildflowers in a meadow at Marston Marshes, near Norwich

Fishmongers Hall bosses were in the dark about guests at rehab conference where Usman Khan struck

Fishmongers Hall terrorist Usman Khan used cocaine and heroin months before the attack which saw him kill two people, an inquest heard.  Usman Khan stabbed Cambridge University project workers Jack Merritt, 25, and Saskia Jones, 23, at a prison rehabilitation conference at the venue on November 29, 2019. Toxicology expert Dr Vincent Cirimele said there was evidence that Khan had been exposed to cocaine and heroin between late August/early September and November 2019. He said the concentration of both drugs was low, indicating either occasional or unique use. Candidate Statement: Chris Houston running for Weston Select Board

Chris Houston This is Chris Houston, with my written statement asking Weston voters to support my re-election to the Select Board. Of course, my strongest statement for re-election is a track record of hard work, responsiveness and results over six years on the Select Board already. For example, I’m proud of my work as the Select Board’s point person on the Old Library and Josiah Smith Tavern (JST), especially my role in successful negotiations with Historic New England to break a long stalemate, amend their preservation restriction, and allow the changes needed for public reuse. It’s exciting to see the Old Library completed for Weston s Art and Innovation Center plus the ongoing work on the JST, all as part of a welcoming, community-oriented and historical town center.
