Flagler County government has filed suit to condemn and demolish the long-derelict, yellowed motel that’s vexed law enforcement, residents and county code enforcement officials for years near Dixie Commons along South Old Dixie Highway, not far from the interchange with I-95. I go to the Gomez Pioneer Cemetery in Hobe Sound and look at the years these people were born, said Martin County history enthusiast Lloyd Jones. You see dates from the 1800s, and I try to imagine what life was like for them and I want to investigate why they came to South Florida, well before there was a tourism industry here.

County seeks bid for Old Dixie sidewalk
The Taylor County Commission is seeking firms to construct a sidewalk along Old Dixie Highway from Jefferson Street to Plantation Road.
The project will be funded by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) through its Local Agency Program (LAP).
