TALLAHASSEE Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody says the Old Capitol Building in Tallahassee will be lit up in blue all week in honor of National Police Week. Moody, whose husband works in federal law enforcement, also plans to light up their home in blue. Other landmarks going under blue lights include the Sunshine Skyway Bridge across Tampa Bay. 12 Florida law enforcement officers have lost their lives this year, about double the number from this time last year, with nearly half due to violent, felonious acts.
Moody said: “Our law enforcement officers chose a life of service when signing up for this noble profession understanding the risk involved every time they leave for work. I am thrilled to participate in this movement in honor of National Police Week, and we should always take time to pay tribute to the men and women of Florida law enforcement.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) wanted to make a big show of honoring the late, racist shock jock Rush Limbaugh after Limbaugh died last week at 70. By Wednesday, that plan had fallen to pieces as it became clear DeSantis’ subjects weren’t too thrilled about the idea.
In a defiant statement Tuesday night, a county commissioner in Palm Beach County, where Limbaugh lived, said the county would defy the governor’s directive to lower the county courthouse’s flag in Limbaugh’s honor.
“Our decision is to keep our flags at normal protocol today,” Lisa De La Rionda, director of the county’s public affairs department, subsequently confirmed to TPM on Wednesday.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) â Months-long Stop the Steal protests at Tallahassee s Old Capitol Building may now be coming to end.
People have been gathering for Stop the Steal rallies for months following the election results.
Leon County Republican Chair Evan Power said with votes certified for Joe Biden as president-elect, it s time for the conversation and movement to move on. I don t think anyone is going to continue those, said Power. I think obviously the election is over. I think what s important is for us to ensure we have fair and transparent elections moving forward and second is to pass Governor DeSantis rioting bill to hold people accountable for when they take actions that are illegal and cause violence.
