In October 2019, Martin submitted a formal written complaint of harassment against Wullbrandt and Bradford.
When Martin made plans to return from medical leave, Bradford told the city clerk she would be placed on administrative leave.
While she participated in an interview with an outside investigator, Martin said city representatives never informed her of the results of the investigation.
“The City’s actions in placing Plaintiff on an involuntary leave of absence, failing to properly investigate her legitimate complaints of harassment and retaliation, and violations of the City Code and Brown Act, and firing Plaintiff on the fabricated and false basis of her position being non-essential were, taken together or individually, adverse employment actions as defined by the California Labor and Government Codes, and Regulations, the lawsuit stated. As a continuous course of conduct, these actions constituted a systematic pattern and practice of illegal retaliation.

The request started with a call from the White House to Mayor Robert Garcia’s office on March 25. It wasn’t until 10 days later that the city officially revealed the idea was under consideration.
City leaders had declined to confirm the news when the Post first reported on April 1 the Convention Center was under consideration instead officials announced the plan four days later on the afternoon of April 5.
In the interim, city staffers had mobilized to coordinate logistics and learn about how a similar plan was working in San Diego. But there was also political maneuvering.
Hours before the plan appeared on a City Council agenda Monday, Garcia, who is close with senior members of the Biden Administration, began rallying supporters. In a private meeting with 25 to 30 community groups, Garcia asked them to speak out in support of the proposal and urge the City Council to approve the idea.

Putting on hold a controversy that had dogged it for months, the San Francisco Unified School District Board of Education voted unanimously Tuesday to suspend plans to rename a third of its public schools, including those named after presidents George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.
In voting to overturn its previous decision, the board provided breathing room for San Franciscans upset at the renaming of public schools through what they saw as a flawed process. But it also frustrated school activists hoping the district would no longer honor U.S. historical figures they see as linked to white supremacy, colonization, slavery and oppression.
SLO City Council considering social media policy

Amid allegations Mayor Heidi Harmon violated the rights of others when she blocked people who disagree with her from commenting on her social media pages, the San Luis Obispo City Council on Tuesday will consider adopting a social media policy for public officials.
In 2019, the Fourth Court of Appeals ruled that the comment section of a public official’s social media page is a public forum, meaning they cannot delete the comments of those who disagree with them based on their First Amendment rights to freedom of speech.
Nevertheless, late last year, Harmon received a public records request asking for a list of everyone she had blocked from her social media accounts. Shortly later, Harmon announced she was leaving social media to promote personal connectivity.

A few months ago, the San Francisco school board voted to rename of a bunch of schools because they were named after dead white racists such as, um… Abraham Lincoln. Yes,
that Abraham Lincoln. It was like they said, “Thanks, Abe, but what have you done for us lately?” I know I’m supposed to get incensed by this sort of culture-war crap, but when I heard about it I just rolled my eyes. I mean, it’s San Francisco. That town was woke before anybody had ever heard of “woke.” That’s what they’re all about. Of course they’re gonna cancel Lincoln for being a racist. Of course they’ll interpret the whole of human history through the lens of whichever trend started prevailing in the last five minutes. If they want to do dumb crap like this, it’s their community and they can decide on their own standards. And I will continue to help them out by never, ever living there.
