OSU’s Corvallis campus to hold in-person graduation celebration CORVALLIS, Ore. (KTVZ) – Oregon State University said Monday it will hold an in-person celebratory event on Friday, June 11 for 2020 and 2021 Corvallis campus graduates, the day before the university holds its formal virtual 2021 commencement ceremony. “Many of our graduates have asked for the chance to celebrate commencement in person with their peers,” said Becky Johnson, OSU’s interim president. “This opportunity to celebrate in person is now possible because Benton County has moved to low COVID-19 risk.” The Corvallis event will take place from 12:30 to 3 p.m. and include an informal processional, departing from the Memorial Union and Valley Library quads and ending at Reser Stadium, where graduates will be seated and hear brief remarks from OSU leaders. Face masks will be required.

OSU on-campus parking plummets amid COVID

Dramatically, the Corvallis City Council heard in a presentation at Mondayâs virtual session. The annual monitoring report that university officials provide to the city shows just 21% of general on-campus spots were being used last fall. A total of 53% of the residence hall sports were used. In March, the Cornish Seal Sanctuary released two rescued baby beaver sisters to their nursery which has been specifically created to be a wild haven for the animals, after years of work and development. The pair, named Barbara and Twiggy by the public, have been in the sanctuary for a month now, and have settled well exploring and building a shelter. A huge section of the Sanctuaryâs woodland has been prepared for the beavers, encompassing all the elements that beavers need to live a happy and healthy life.
