The best walks in the UK for an active break after lockdown
A lung-full of fresh air and the best scenery Britain has to offer walkers
By Anya Meyerowitz and edited by Roshina Jowaheer 19/02/2021 Mike Harrington
Britain is bursting with countless walks, from gentle trails for days out in the countryside, to serious (sometimes hilly) treks for hardcore ramblers. It may not have the lofty peaks of the Alps or the epic thousands-of-miles treks of the United States, but the best walks in the UK are certainly capable of holding their own.
Well signposted paths and thoughtfully planned routes mean that anyone with a hardy pair of boots can immerse themselves in the British landscape at it best - from estuary-riddled strolls to the tempestuous Cornish cliffs.

Extraordinary Escapes With Sandi Toksvig
9pm, Channel 4
Sandi Toksvig takes us on a tour of Britain’s best holiday spots, with celebrity guests in tow, in this four-part series. Tonight, she is joined by actor Alison Steadman, at a 19th-century Martello tower in Suffolk. They take in some cloud-watching on the heritage coast before heading to a converted priory deep in the countryside, where Toksvig quizzes Steadman on her acting career and hobby of fungi-spotting.

Stephen Mangan and Joan Bakewell are in Buckinghamshire with the remaining artists this week. The contestants are set the task of capturing West Wycombe House, the 18th-century Palladian home of the Dashwood family, with its mix of baroque, rococo and neoclassical designs set amid the greenery.
CORNWALL AND DEVON WALKS WITH JULIA BRADBURY aired on ITV with the popular television presenter heading to The Lizard Peninsula. During the show Bradbury learned how to make Cornish pasties and tucked into scones, leaving viewers divided.
Six new affordable homes are being built on the Lizard Peninsula - and now is the time for local people to register an interest. People with a strong connection to the Grade Ruan parish are encouraged to take a look at the new homes in Ruan Minor, which will be available for secure affordable rent from this spring. There will be four one-bedroom flats for two people and two two-bedroom houses for four people. All of the homes, which are being built by the Community Land Trust, overseen by a local committee, will be available on a priority basis to local people from Grade Ruan parish, or with a strong connection to the local area.
