No public transports were seen on the roads. Only some private vehicles were seen plying the streets.
Vehicles were being stopped at checkpoints; passengers were being asked for their identities and reasons for being out on the streets during the lockdown .
Those who were walking towards their destinations were also being stopped and questioned by law enforcers.

Law enforcers were seen asking them to show movement pass issued by the police. Vehicles carrying goods and produce were allowed on the streets.

Five months have passed since the delivery of the verdict in the case filed over the murder of Ishtiaque Hossain Jonny in police custody, but two convicts are still eluding arrest.
Much to the disappointment of the victim s family, Russell, one of the two absconding convicts, is running drug business in Rahmat Camp area of the capital s Pallabi which is less than half a kilometre away from the victim s house, said locals.
Speaking on condition of anonymity, a local youth said Russell visits the area once in every two to three weeks with drugs in a motorcycle and leaves after collecting the money earned by his men from sales of yaba pills and other drugs.

A housewife was stabbed to death allegedly by her husband in Dhaka s Pallabi area this morning.
The victim was identified as Selina Begum (40).
Police took her husband in custody after victim s son caught him while he was trying to flee.
Rabiul allegedly slit his wife s throat and wrapped the body with a blanket before leaving the house, Kazi Wajed Ali, officer-in-charge of Pallabi Police Station, said quoting victim s son, whose name could not be known immediately.
The son told police that he last saw his parents talking in their room around 11:15am. Nearly half an hour later, he saw his father going outside. Minutes later, he went to talk to his mother but saw her wrapped in a blanket, the OC said.
The family members of Benarasi weaver Mohammad Arman, who was wrongly arrested five years ago, are counting the minutes for his release.
The 35-year-old man has been in jail for almost five years since the capital s Pallabi police arrested him in what officers said was a case of mistaken identity.
The High Court in a verdict on Thursday pronounced him innocent and ordered that he be released. We never thought it could take five years to get an innocent man released, Arman s mother Sohor Banu told The Daily Star after the verdict was announced.
She still shudders at the thought of her harrowing journey over the last five years.
Wrongful imprisonment: HC orders police to give Tk 20 lakh as compensation

The High Court today directed the inspector general of police to give Tk 20 lakh as compensation to Md Arman, a technician at a Benarasi Palli in Mirpur, in 30 days as police personnel have wrongly arrested him and kept him in jail for around four years instead of the original accused in a drug case.
The court also asked the authorities concerned of the government to immediately release Arman from Dhaka central jail.
While delivering the verdict on a writ petition today, the HC ordered the IGP and commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police to withdraw four police officers, who were discharging duties under Pallabi Police Station when Arman was arrested, from their workplaces and to attach them to another place.
