The UTC location s menu will be essentially identical to downtown Sarasota when it opens, though specials may be added over time. Selva is known for its ceviches, as well as entrees like skirt steak topped with chimichurri and beet relish and served over plantains.
The new location will also serve liquor, with Selva s drink menu featuring cocktails such as the popular Peruvian pisco sour. It also plans to offer a happy hour – along with adding the Main Street location s late-night menu in the future, Souflis said – as well as DJs on the weekends like in downtown Sarasota.
The 5,400-square-foot store should be able to accommodate a stage, backstage amenities and up to 140 audience members per performance, Skaggs said in an interview before the official announcement was made in an online video featuring a performance of “Home” from the musical “The Wiz.”
“We are excited. It’s right off the main entrance and there’s great parking,” Skaggs said, adding that the mall owners were “pleased with having something that’s non-retail occupy the space. The storefront is just inside the mall entrance closest to Connors Steak & Seafood.

The Lily Cafe to open in Sarasota
A new breakfast and lunch cafe is coming to south Sarasota from the same Naples-based group that plans to open a restaurant and bar in the University Town Center area.
The restaurant, called The Lily Cafe, will open in Sarasota’s The Landings plaza at U.S. 41 and Proctor Road next to Publix. The 2,900-square-foot eatery, scheduled to open in June, will be able to seat about 150 people, owner George Wood said.
Wood’s family is the driving force behind the award-winning Naples restaurant Jane’s Cafe on 3rd, and Georgie’s Garden Cafe and Bar George, two new concepts that are in the works for the West District at University Town Center. Both the West District and The Landings are owned by Benderson Development Co. of Manatee County.
