Updated: 11:43 AM CDT April 2, 2021 UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. A Maplewood man suspected in a fatal shooting in University City has been arrested and charged. Cole Miller, 23, of Maplewood, was charged Thursday with second-degree murder, armed criminal action and receiving stolen property. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Sharif Khan of Creve Coeur, died at a hospital after University City police found him with gunshot wounds at 762 W. Canterbury Road on Wednesday afternoon. Police recovered two .380-caliber shell casings at the scene and a cellphone later determined to belong to Miller. He was arrested Wednesday night at a bar and grill on South Big Bend Boulevard in Maplewood. Officers found Miller’s truck with a .380 Ruger LCP inside. The gun had been reported missing in Franklin County.

Judicial inquiry ordered into student’s death in custody Top Story March 16, 2021 PESHAWAR: A judicial inquiry into the death of the grade-7 student in police custody was ordered as the deceased was laid to rest on Monday. The district and sessions judge, Peshawar deputed a judicial magistrate to conduct the inquiry under Section 176 Criminal Procedure Code into the death of the student Shahzeb in custody at the West Cantonment Police Station. The magistrate was directed to submit the report within two weeks. Shahzeb, a young student from Warsak Road, Peshawar was laid to rest in his ancestral village on Monday. Hundreds of people attended the funeral prayers. The police said he committed suicide in the lock-up of the West Cantonment Police Station on Sunday, but his father alleged that Shahzeb was tortured to death. Police said he was arrested after a brawl with local shopkeepers in Liaqat Bazaar and pointing gun at them.

Student dies in Peshawar Police custody Top Story March 15, 2021 PESHAWAR: In yet another tragic incident, a grade-7 student was found dead in the lock-up of the West Cantonment Police Station on Sunday. This happened a few days after a student from Bannu was shot dead by the cops in the limits of the Faqirabad Police Station. The staff of the West Cantonment Police Station was suspended after the tragic incident while the concerned cops, including the station house officer, have been arrested and a case lodged against them. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan and Governor Shah Farman, while taking notice of the incident, directed the Inspector General of Police to conduct an inquiry and submit report on the death of the young student. They expressed anger as to what made the student commit suicide in the lock-up if the police version is true.
