Phosiso Sola is a scientist working on natural resources governance, bioenergy and development of sustainable agroforestry value chains. Her current work focuses on governance of woodfuel, with the aim of contributing to the development of sustainable charcoal value chains in African drylands. She has also worked extensively on environmental management and rehabilitation in conflict situations in Africa and Asia. She has over 25 years’ work experience, most of which has been in action research and development projects on natural resources management, forest and agroforestry products commercialization, agro-market links and value-chain development. She obtained her PhD from the University of Wales, Bangor, focusing on impacts of commercialisation of non-timber forest products.

Dr Hywel Francis former Aberavon MP and historian dies

Labour Newport West Assembly candidate Jayne Bryant, chairman of Byw Nawr Hywel Francies and Newport West AM Dame Rosemary Butler at St David s Hospice.. THE founder of the South Wales Miners Library and former Labour politician Dr Hywel Francis has died aged 74. Dr Francis’ family confirmed last night that he had died at the Morriston Hospital in Swansea yesterday, Sunday. In a tribute to him, the South Wales Miners Library said: “We are devastated to learn of the passing of Hywel Francis, founder and tireless supporter of the South Wales Miners’ Library. “His remarkable career as historian, politician and adult educator exuded wisdom, humour and a strong sense of social justice. He will be greatly missed.”
