Funding denial by HEC leaves universities in dire straits - Newspaper

PESHAWAR: The nine government universities established in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last five years are struggling to meet salary and other expenditure due to the denial of funds by the Higher Education Commission despite repeated requests, say officials in the higher education department and universities. According to them, the regulator for higher education insists that it can’t support those universities due to the considerable slashing of its funding by the federal government. These institutions of higher education include Shuhada-i-Army Public School University of Technology Nowshera, Women University Mardan, University of Buner, University of Chitral, University of Engineering and Technology Mardan, University of Lakki Marwat, Pak-Austria Fachhochschule: Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology Haripur, Agriculture University Dera Ismail Khan and Women University Swabi.

HEC teams visit universities for performance evaluation Islamabad February 24, 2021 Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has successfully concluded evaluation visits of three HEC recognised higher education institutions through Institutional Performance Evaluation (IPE) and Postgraduate Programme Review (PGPR). The universities evaluated by Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), HEC during three days visits included University of Gujrat, University of Lakki Marwat and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto Medical University, Larkana. HEC will conduct evaluation of 15 institutions/universities by June 2021. IPE is a holistic review of an institution or a university, in which its overall performance is evaluated on the basis of 11 IPE standards, which are Mission Statement and Goals, Planning and Evaluation, Organisation and Governance, Integrity, Faculty, Students, Institutional Resources, Academic Programmes and Curricula, Public Disclosure & Transparency, Assessment and Qualit

Lakki varsity devises policy against sexual harassment - Newspaper

LAKKI MARWAT: The syndicate of the University of Lakki Marwat has devised a policy against sexual harassment on its campuses, and vowed to ensure its strict implementation. In its second meeting on Tuesday, the syndicate also took important decisions with regard to according approval to the rules of business for different bodies and establishment of a departmental audit committee. Vice-Chancellor Dr Aurangzeb Khan presided over the meeting, with its members, including Bacha Khan University Charsada VC Dr Fazal Rahim Marwat, Justice retired Mohammad Younas Thaheem, additional secretary higher education Ihsanullah, deputy secretary finance Farooq Ahmad and deputy secretary establishment Ahmad Kamal in attendance.
