Man Accused Of Hitting, Killing UCO Student In Wrong-Way Crash Pleads Not Guilty

Penney appeared by video and appeared to show no emotion as he plead not guilty. He s facing a second-degree murder charge and leaving the scene of a fatality accident. The crash back in October killed 19-year-old Murrow, a beloved UCO student. I guess we had some hope he would take responsibility for what he did, said Jeff. But I don t know why we felt that way because that s not his history. Penney was allegedly driving the wrong-way on the Kilpatrick Turnpike. According to court documents, his blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit. In 2018 Penney plead guilty to his fourth DUI in just seven years.

UCO students place second at national broadcast competition

The Oklahoman Two University of Central Oklahoma students celebrated success at the Broadcast Education Association’s annual Festival of Media Arts competition, taking home second place at a virtual event.  The Broadcast Education Association awarded UCO’s UCentral News second place in the TV newscast category, specifically naming Amanda Siew, a professional media major from Petaling Jaya, Malaysia, and Kyle Tangco, a senior professional media major from Edmond, for their work as producer and director of the newscast. “The students have been amazingly adaptive and resilient during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Desiree Hill, Ph.D., UCentral News adviser.  “They created work recognized among the best in the country, despite and maybe because of everything they are coping with.”
