Universities to offer supporting pollinators webinar

Read Article ORONO University of Maine Cooperative Extension and University of New Hampshire Cooperative Extension plan to offer a webinar for home gardeners about supporting pollinators and their habitats from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Saturday, May 26. “Supporting Pollinators in Your Landscape” will focus on native pollinators and their habitat needs, with tips for plant selection, and design and maintenance of established gardens, with pollinators in mind. Phil Fanning, a UMaine assistant professor of entomology, and Emma Erler, a UNH Extension landscape and greenhouse horticulture field specialist, will lead the workshop. Registration is required; a sliding scale fee is optional. To register to attend live or receive a link to the recording, visit extension.umaine.edu. This is the fourth in a six-part spring gardening webinar series offered every other Wednesday through June for Maine and New Hampshire gardeners.

(Photo courtesy University of Maine Cooperative Extension) University of Maine Cooperative Extension will offer an online class about using electric pressure cookers to prepare classic barbecue recipes Thursday, May 27, from 6 - 7:30 p.m. “BBQing with your electric pressure cooker” will feature barbecued ribs and baked beans, with recipes and tips for preparing stuffed eggs, pasta and potato salads and dessert using the same device. Registration is required; a $5 donation is optional. Register on the event webpage.
