University of Providence is dropping several academic programs

GREAT FALLS â The University of Providence in Great Falls announced on Friday that it will be removing several academic programs.
The UP Board of Trustees voted to sunset the following programs: Accounting (BS, 4+1 and MS), Chemistry, Mathematics, and Computer Science.
Father Oliver Doyle, UP president, said in a news release, âFor UP, as for every institution, sunsetting programs comes with a great deal of heartache, but as educational and career training needs change, we are called to adapt and respond.â

GREAT FALLS â Some of the planned phases of construction may take up to 10 years to be completed, but the wheels are officially in motion. On Friday, the Great Falls Community Ice Foundation launched its initial campaign for improvement to the Great Falls Ice Plex.
The long-term goal of the campaign and ensuing construction projects is to make the facility a âpreferred destination for hockey tournaments, skating competitions and year-round events.â
âThe rink has been open for more than 10 years,â explained GFCIF President Teresa Gunn. âWe are finally at a point where we feel, despite COVID, relatively financially stable, where we are ready to start making improvements.â

GREAT FALLS â COVID testing is underway at the University of Providence in Great Falls as students head to classes on campus after an all-remote fall semester. As of Tuesday, several hundred people had been tested.
One or two at a time, students filed in to the McLaughlin Center on Tuesday morning to get tested. It wasn t as bad as I thought it was going to be, as I anticipated,â said student Elizabeth Busa.
