APD investigated 2 serious crashes Sunday

The Albuquerque Police Department investigated two serious crashes one of which left a pedestrian dead on Sunday. Rebecca Atkins, an APD spokeswoman, said the first crash occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Carlisle near Interstate 40. She said a gold Lexus traveling south on Carlisle ran a red light and was T-boned by a silver Hyundai. “The Hyundai sedan had exited on the off ramp from Interstate 40 to Carlisle, but decided to continue Westbound to get back onto Interstate 40 WB,” Atkins said. “According to the driver of the Hyundai and a witness who provided statements to field officers, the Hyundai had a green light to proceed through the intersection.”

Stansbury, Heinrich, Luján Secure Over $10 Million for Community Projects

U.S. Senators Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and  Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) announced they secured over $10 million dollars for Community Funded Projects across the First Congressional District. The funding was requested by the Congresswoman on her first day in office with input from New Mexico’s senators. Here is a statement from the office of Rep. Stansbury: This week, the House will vote on annual spending bills with key provisions to authorize these projects for New Mexico. The bills will then move to the Senate for consideration.  “I am excited and grateful that we were able to secure these funds for our  district and communities on my very first day in office something that I will continue to do as I proudly represent and advocate for the people of New Mexico’s First Congressional District. I am proud of these funding requests, which will help ensure that community-driven projects that serve our children and strengthen our public health, safety, and community well-being

At the age of 7 he got his first guitar and his passion followed him throughout his life. He played soccer in school and loved reading books about scientific theories and Stephen Hawking – topics he would then spend hours discussing with his father. As he grew up Alexander struggled with mental health issues, post-traumatic stress disorder and “alcohol was his demon,” his father Jeremy Corrie said. ......................
