As the fall surge of COVID-19 continues to worsen across the country, Delaware on Wednesday reported records for its daily case average and hospitalizations.
The state reported 925 new cases, the second most it s reported in a single day trailing only last Thursday when there were 936 new cases.
The seven-day average for new cases increased to 810.9. The daily case average record has been broken in 11 consecutive days.
On the day after Delaware surpassed its spring peak, the number of hospitalizations in the state increased by 10 to 348. Based on the increasing case counts over the past several weeks, the number of hospitalizations will likely continue to increase and threaten the state s capacity to treat COVID-19 patients.
