KUALA LUMPUR: Biotech company, ImmunoScape has announced the formation of its Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) comprising leading scientists in immunology and oncology who will help to guide ImmunoScape’s scientific strategy.
The founding members of the SAB bring substantial scientific insight and expertise to assist the company, which include Evan Newell, Ph.D.; Philip Greenberg, M.D.; Patrick Reeves, Ph.D.; and, Paul Thomas, Ph.D.

UTHSC professor wins grant to explore poverty-health link in primary care delivery
Shelley White-Means, PhD, a professor of health economics at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, is the principal investigator of a $298,368 grant from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to examine whether health outcomes for low-income individuals will improve if primary care delivery focuses not only on physical and mental health, but also on the effects of poverty.
Dr. White-Means will lead a team for the 18-month project to test how an established model of care, Transition to Success (TTS), which focuses on mental health, physical health, and poverty and its consequences, impacts health care delivery and outcomes for patients of Cherokee Health Systems, a non-profit provider of primary care services to the poor and uninsured in Tennessee, with centers in Memphis.

When Andrew Griffith, MD, PhD, looks at the inner ear, he sees what he describes as an engineering marvel.
Just think about it, he says, the inner ear is intricately designed to process sound, which can travel faster than the speed of nerve cell signaling in our body. Yet, when he began his research career as an otolaryngologist and a molecular biologist, not much was known about how the inner ear operates. We couldn t use classical approaches to understand the organ, he says. We can t actually biopsy the inner ear or take any tissue from a living person without completely deafening them and making them severely dizzy, essentially destroying the organ.
