QC councilor told to explain alleged health protocol breach in food drive

Metro Manila (CNN Philippines, May 26) Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte has issued a show-cause order to a city councilor to explain the reported violation of basic health protocols during an event he sponsored on Tuesday, the local government said on Wednesday.
Belmonte wants Majority Leader Franz Pumaren of the city s 3rd District to explain the alleged breach of safety protocols which occurred in his food distribution activity in Barangay Old Balara, the Quezon City LGU said in a statement.
“The show-cause order had been received by Councilor Pumaren today,” it added. Pumaren has been given 72 hours from receipt of the order to explain why he should not be charged for the event.

THE DEPARTMENT of Health (DoH) reported 7,174 coronavirus infections on Sunday, bringing the total to 1.1 million.
The death toll rose by 204 to 18,472, while recoveries increased by 9,197 to 1.02 million, it said in a bulletin.
There were 61,294 active cases, 1.3% of which were critical, 93.8% were mild, 2.1% did not show symptoms, 1.7% were severe and 1.07% were moderate.
DoH said 33 duplicates had been removed from the tally, 28 of which were tagged as recoveries and one as death. It added that 149 recoveries were reclassified as deaths.

THE ANTI-RED Tape Authority (ARTA) is studying putting up one-stop shops for the processing of accreditation for coronavirus vaccination sites in response to alleged delays.
