This Governor Faces Impeachment Over COVID-19 Mandates Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear faces an impeachment probe for what critics say were his overly strict rules during the pandemic. (Photo: John Sommers II/Getty Images) As the nation’s capital braces for its second impeachment trial in just over a year and far-flung states clash over COVID-19 restrictions, Kentucky’s governor faces an impeachment probe by state legislators for what his critics say were overly strict rules during the pandemic.  With impeachment threatened by foes who say his COVID-19 mandates violated the state and federal constitutions, Gov. Andy Beshear, a Democrat, sued the state Legislature for overriding his veto of two bills that would rein in his power to impose such restrictions.

Snow hits London as Met office issues AMBER weather warning

Advertisement Up to three inches of snow fell in parts of the UK today and left some rural villages cut off after the Met Office warned of road closures and power cuts.  Drivers described horrendous conditions on Britain s roads as the wintry weather hit the Home Counties in the early hours and forecasters are now predicting snow will be replaced with torrential rain across the UK next week, as temperatures rise.  A Met Office forecaster said: Atlantic low-pressure systems are expected to cross the south of the county at times, bringing rainfall and periods of slightly milder temperatures, and there will be a risk of snowfall on the boundary between the mild and cold airmasses.

Local musicians have teamed up to perform a special charity show. Rock The Lockdown raised £500 for Middlewich Foodbank last March. Middlewich Labour is organising another similar event on Saturday, January 30 in aid of Middlewich Round Table. Photo Booth Smile will headline supported by Gareth Heesom, Christie Bratherton, Kieran Davies and Frank Quilty. Gareth Heesom So many local musicians offered to sing, another gig is already in the pipeline. Cllr Jonathan Parry said: I love my music and had quite a lot of tickets for concerts last year which were postponed. This is the next best thing. We want to showcase local artists and give them a platform. We had more artists than we could use for this gig so we hope to run another one in February if this one goes well.

New coffee shop is opening this weekend in downtown Tuscaloosa

A new coffee option for downtown Tuscaloosa will host its grand opening celebration this weekend. Just Love Coffee, founded in 2009 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, is coming to the former space of O’Henry’s Coffees in the Downtown Rock Point development at the corner of Lurleen Wallace Boulevard North and University Boulevard. O Henry s Coffees of Birmingham, which was the first business to open a franchise in the mixed-use development in 2016, closed last year after the ongoing Lurleen Wallace Boulevard construction limited its ability to attract customers. “Things just happen sometimes,   said O Henry s Coffees owner Randy Adamy in August 2019, and you kind of lick your wounds, put your tail between your legs and leave town.”
