A giant street mural dedicated to George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement was unveiled Saturday in front of Floyd’s alma mater, Jack Yates High School. The massive mural, which reads “BLACK LIVES MATTER” and has a painted portrait of Floyd’s old football jersey, spans about two blocks on Alabama Street. “It means a lot for me to come out here and show love and support for my father,” said Floyd’s son at the mural unveiling. Artists in the Third Ward are finishing up a Black Lives Matter mural in honor of George Floyd.
HOUSTON - It’s a special moment for Houston’s Third Ward community as they near completion of the Black Lives Matter mural in front of Jack Yates High School. There are no words that can express the emotions behind this whole movement.
Margo Hickman, a teacher at Jack Yates High School was among the volunteers pitching in to paint the letters spelling Black Lives Matter with George Floyd s football jersey and school mascot on each end.
