China Partners With Alibaba s Ant To Push Digital Yuan Amid Regulatory Issues

Last Updated: 03 May 2021 China’s central bank has further partnered with Ant Group, the fintech arm of Alibaba Group, and internet provider Tencent to develop its digital currency. Ant And Tencent To Help In Development Of Digital Yuan According to the Digital Currency Research Institute of the People’s Bank of China (PBC), during the Fourth Digital China Summit held in East China’s Fujian Province, the apex bank said it had signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Ant to help build a technical platform for the digital yuan. Ant would promote the development of the electronic yuan or e-CNY, using its database, Ocean Base, and its mobile development platform, mPaaS, according to state tabloid Global Times.

Share: Alibaba Group Holding Ltd (NYSE: BABA) said in a statement Friday that the fashion brand Gucci owned by Kering SA (OTC: PPRUF) would be launching two flagship brands on its luxury e-commerce platform. What Happened: Gucci s line would be available on Alibaba’s Tmall Luxury Pavillion, where the Jack Ma-led company said it has managed to gather high-end luxury-good companies that were previously skeptical of online retail.  Gucci’s first store would open on Dec. 21 and the second which will focus on beauty products is set to launch in Feb. 2021. “We’ve strived to help brands engage Chinese consumers via our digital tools and solutions, from product marketing and brand-building to market analytics and customer service,” said Luna Wang, head of Tmall Luxury Division.
