PROPERTY: Magnificent Victorian home in Cupar with conservatory and hot tub sits in an acre of ground beside park Updated: March 26 2021, 1.17pm A stunning Victorian house on one of Cupar’s most exlusive streets sits in an acre of garden. Bordering a park but with the High Street minutes away it’s the perfect blend of town and country, Jack McKeown says The sun slides out from behind a fluffy white cloud as I’m standing in the garden at Struan Park. The light bathes the sandstone, imbuing it with a golden glow and making an already handsome house look even more impressive.

SPIRIT OF SUCCESS: the companies set up during the covid pandemic © Gareth Jennings/DCT Media Covid brought the economy to a standstill but the entrepreneurial spirit can’t be stopped. Johnny Horn, James Scanlan (affectionately known as “Scan”) and Graham Duff weren’t going to let a small detail like that prevent them starting Holy Goat Brewing though. The Dundee beer maker was founded last summer and started trading on Halloween – a few weeks before we entered the third covid lockdown.

PROPERTY: Outstanding Fife cottage on the banks of the River Eden © Supplied by Thorntons A pair of derelict cottages and an old byre near the village of Dairsie were combined into a stunning family home. The gardens are just as special, stretching down to the banks of the River Eden. Jack McKeown explores a glorious corner of Fife. There could be a picture of Lydox Mill Cottage next to the word “idyllic” in the dictionary. When I step out of my car outside the picturesque home, golden retriever Nesta ambles over for a lean against my legs and a head scratch, owner Alex Robertson waves from within the stone workshop where he designs golf clubs, and in the background a stream tinkles happily as it flows towards the River Eden at the foot of the garden.

The main house has been refurbished by the current owners and offers four reception rooms, nine bedrooms and eight bathrooms, as well as a self-contained one bedrooms staff flat on the first floor.
