Now the bench has been unveiled in Fenton Park so people can mourn his passing and celebrate his life and achievements.
Gareth’s wife Lynn, as well as his two daughters Jenny Davies and Rebecca Jones, were among those attending the event.
Paying tribute, Lynn said: “Thank you all for assembling here today to give thanks for the life of Gareth and all he did for so many children and adults in this city and beyond. I am so proud of him.
