One of the biggest fields in recent times took on the 2021 edition of the 7 Rocky River Run in picture-perfect conditions on Sunday.
A total of 2200 participants greeted the start line across the four distances – the half marathon, 10km, 5km and 2km.

Event organiser Jason Crowther said he could not have asked for a better day.
“CQ’s really turned it on. It’s a great day in Rocky and we’ve got good numbers,” he said.
“We have 2200 runners and that’s the highest number in the four, five years I’ve been involved.
“People have come from everywhere, everyone’s got a real appetite for racing again after about 18 months off with COVID.

Waimea Old Boys and Marist produced a frenetic 80-minute game of rugby on Saturday which yielded 97 points and ended with Waimea Old Boys maintaining its perfect record after three weeks of the Stuff Tasman Trophy club rugby season. Elsewhere, Wanderers earned its first win of the season after two draws over the opening fortnight of the competition, coming from behind to defeat Stoke while Central and Kahurangi both moved into the top four with dominant performances. Waimea Old Boys and Marist have been difficult to split over recent seasons with the two sides being involved in many close fought encounters. Saturday proved no different, although it didn’t start that way.
