HOTEL GAMING LOUNGE RAIDED
A full truck load of furniture and equipment from a modernistic bar and gambling lounge on the ninth floor of the Aldridge Hotel was stored in the basement of the police station Thursday, April 13, 1939. This followed a gambling raid by police and sheriff deputies.
Only two arrests were made. C.C. Coulston was booked at the police station, as was N.B. Miller, an employee of the lounge. Led by Chief F.A. Budd, officers raided a suite of rooms on the top floor of the hotel about 9:30 p.m. Other officers on the raid were Sam Martin, Bill Miller, and Mark Frazier.
Water is essential to life as we know it and it seems completely normal to have water all around us. Yet Earth is the only known planet to be covered by oceans. Do we know exactly where its water came from?
This is not a simple question: it was long thought that Earth formed dry – without water, because of its proximity to the Sun and the high temperatures when the solar system formed. In this model, water could have been brought to Earth by comets or asteroids colliding with the Earth. Such a complex origin for water would likely mean that our planet is unique in the universe.

Here are a selection of your comments…
Who is responsible for the decline of Williams?
Andrew Wakefield: I can’t imagine how hard it must have been [to step down as deputy team principal] Claire fought so hard against teams with five-times plus budgets, and if [certain] circumstances hadn’t happened I feel sure she would have brought it up to where it belongs. So many businesses losing during this time, but Paddy Lowe was the real start of the problems. Williams were third for two years then fifth for two years; she brought in Paddy to fix it which resulted in [a slide to] the back of the grid, Paddy seems to have disappeared since then.
