The No. 3 Ole Miss Rebels travelled to Gainesville, Florida on Thursday and faced off against the No. 15 Florida Gators.
Game One: Ole Miss 1, Florida 4
Ole Miss (21-6, 7-2 SEC) had a rough time getting out of the gate offensively in game one on Thursday.
Gunnar Hoglund (3-1) started for the Diamond Rebs and pitched 6.0 innings, allowing only two runs on four hits while striking out five on the evening.
Not totally sure what just happened in that inning, but @GunnarHoglund got two more strikeouts and Florida didn t score, so we ll take it and move on!

Dreaded Ninth Inning
While Ole Miss did add two more runs in the top of the eighth inning, the problems snowballed in the top of the ninth. The ninth inning has been a rocky zone for Florida since their opening series against Miami. Down 4-2, Florida had to shut down the sizzling Rebel bats, before taking their last three outs. But, Ole Miss did not go quietly. Jack Leftwich on the hill for Florida started with giving up a single and a walk to put two men on early in the ninth. Another walk followed by a two-RBI single from Ryan Chatagnier extended the Rebel lead to 6-2.

Aleman worked through four innings, allowing just three hits and holding Ole Miss to one run. In relief, Mace picked up right where Aleman left off allowing just one hit through five innings while also tallying seven strikeouts. Mace wrapped up the game in a typical dominating fashion, striking out the side in the ninth.
” That was the plan,” he said. ” Tommy to start a clean inning and Franco to give us four and Tommy to go five and it worked out really well.”
Mace picked up his fifth victory of the season with tonight’s win.
