Reply January 29, 2021 The Cambridge Police Department today held a swearing-in ceremony for Leonard DiPietro, who was promoted to the rank of Police Superintendent. Subscribe Born and raised in Cambridge, Superintendent DiPietro initially joined the Cambridge Police Department as a Cadet in 1976. He later became a Police Officer in 1983 after spending time with the Cambridge Fire Department. Since joining the Cambridge Police Department, DiPietro has since served in a variety of units during his distinguished career, including Patrol Operations, Community Services, and Criminal Investigations. Most recently, he served as Deputy Superintendent for Criminal Investigations. Prior to that, DiPietro made significant impacts in the Community Services Section (now the Family and Social Justice Section) and was instrumental in the creation and development of the City s internationally-renowned Safety Net Collaborative.
