ITP drive in full swing to control lane violation

Islamabad: The campaign of Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) to check lane violation is in full swing and road users are being educated to follow traffic rules and minimize the accident ratio.
The main objective of the road safety campaign is to ensure safety to people and road users are being educated for lane discipline during drive, said the spokesperson of ITP on Saturday.
Following directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jamil ul Rehman, Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed has constituted special squads to control lane violation on various roads and ensure smooth flow of traffic in the city.
12,089 vehicles with tinted glasses fined

Islamabad: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) fined 12,089 vehicles having tinted glasses during the ongoing year while special squads have been constituted for effective action against those vehicles having tinted glasses.
Following directions of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jamil ul Rehman, Islamabad Traffic Police has accelerated efforts to take action against those vehicles having tinted glasses.
Special squads have been constituted for the purpose, which have been also directed to remove tinted glasses from vehicles.
Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed has also urged the citizens to follow.
He also appealed to avoid using tinted glasses and follow traffic rules to ensure safe road environment in the city.
ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Qazi Jamilur Rehman on Saturday introduced ‘Cycle Patrol Unit’ in the city to develop friendly relations with residents.
A ceremony was held in this regard at Jinnah Avenue where the IGP was the chief guest. DIG (Operations) Afzaal Ahmed Kousar, SSP (Operations) Dr Syed Mustafa Tanveer, SSP (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed, SP (City Zone) Umar Khan and other police officers besides traders, civil society members and notables were present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the IGP said they had decided to launch ‘Cycle Patrolling’ in the area of Kohsar police station. A 10-member squad of cyclists would work under the direct supervision of ASP (Kohsar) Amna Baig in collaboration with Urban Platform and Cycling Association.
23,972 bikers fined
Islamabad: Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued 23,972 fine tickets to motorcyclists driving their bikes without helmets.
ITP was endeavoring to maintain exemplary traffic system in the city and check those involved in negligence on roads, said a press release.
SSP (Traffic) Farrukh Rasheed has appreciated this performance and said that vigorous campaign of ITP had been launched as per directions of IGP Islamabad Qazi Jamil Ul Rehman to create awareness among citizens about traffic rules.
He said traffic personnel were directed to ensure implementation on traffic rules and regulation irrespective of status and rank and demonstrate patience and politeness while issuing traffic violation tickets to the road users.
