When I started this journey I thought I d just do breweries around Baltimore. Maybe focus on 2 per week of some of my favorite spots. But then I remembered how many incredible locations we have in Maryland. So far I ve mostly been hanging in Baltimore County, City and Howard County. But I have to make a trip out to Frederick for Flying Dog Brewery.
I took my first brewery tour at Flying Dog. A few years back my wife set it up for my birthday. We went out to Frederick to check it out and also stopped by my favorite sandwich shop, AKA Friscos.

Standing on a soft-footed pyramid of sand, I gawp at the scene that surrounds me. On all sides, like an undulating mountain range, the seemingly endless landscape of sand dunes rises from the desert. In the near distance lies the tiny Peruvian town of Huacachina, a postcard-perfect bubble of exotic greenery centred on a desert lagoon. Squinting through the heat haze, I spot people paddling their way across the lake, surreally crossing one of the world’s driest deserts in a rickety old pedalo. It was an interesting contrast to witness the horrifying events in Washington, D.C., on January 6 juxtaposed against what was happening in Montpelier that same day as Vermont legislators were freshly sworn in and settling into their new committees. In fact, work had already begun in December on a bill that would make 2021âs Town Meetings safer.
On Tuesday, we worked on and quickly passed H.48, a bill relating to alternative procedures for Town Meetings and local elections in response to COVID-19. It should be stressed that this bill does not mandate anything but is permissive in nature.
