School District cancels classes after multiple buses damaged by fire
BURLINGTON, Wisconsin (WDJT ) Several school buses that transport Burlington Area School District students were damaged in an electrical fire Tuesday, Feb. 2. The damage is estimated to be more than half-a-million dollars.
According to the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, around 3:54 a.m., a deputy spotted dark smoke coming from the Thomas Bus Company property on Bushnell Road, in the Town of Burlington.
“Upon arrival we noticed flames and smoke coming from underneath the buses. Just activated all resources necessary and took it from there,” Town of Burlington Fire Department Assistant Chief Scott Wingreen said.

TOWN OF BURLINGTON, Wis. - Six school buses were heavily damaged or destroyed by fire at a lot in Racine County early Tuesday, Feb. 2. As a result, the Burlington Area School District canceled classes for the day.
The fire happened at the Thomas Bus Service lot in the Town of Burlington. A Racine County sheriff s deputy reported smoke and fire coming from a bus shortly before 4 a.m.
