With an average property price of £500,310, London is the most expensive place in England to buy a house, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). However, the counties and towns around the capital also boast some mind-boggling property prices.
According to Zoopla, Surrey is home to four of the 12 most expensive towns outside of the capital, while locations in Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, East Sussex, Hampshire and Berkshire also feature.
Virginia Water in Surrey became the UK’s first “million pound town” a few years ago and it remains top of the Zoopla rich list with an average property value of £1,320,014 in May 2021. This is a rise of 1.61% in the last three months (since February 2021) and rise of 8.97% since 12 months ago.
