The Calhoun County Public Health Department is setting up so-called micro clinics to ensure that communities of color and underserved populations have access to the COVID-19 vaccine. The micro clinics differ from the health department s mass vaccination clinics, where 600 to 1,000 people are vaccinated in a day. Instead, between 200 and 300 people are vaccinated at smaller locations throughout the community, such as churches.

The event was organized by the Burma Center, a community organization that supports Battle Creek s Burmese population. It s important that we get the word out, not just to people locally, but to let the people in Burma know that we re standing in solidarity with them and that even though they might be afraid to protest right now, that we re here, protesting for them and with them, said Tha Par, executive director of the Burma Center.
