Ethnic Kachin Armed Group Launches Multiple Attacks on Myanmar Military

Ethnic armed group the Kachin Independence Army (KIA) attacked a police outpost in Maden Yang village in Lone Khin village-tract in Kachin State’s Hpakant Township around 7pm Monday. The number of casualties is still unknown.
“We heard gunfire and explosions until 9pm. Locals are planning to flee from their homes as gunfire has been heard every night recently,” said a local resident.
The KIA’s Battalion 6 has been attacking outposts of the Myanmar military’s Division 33 in Hpakant Township. On Sunday night and Monday morning, it attacked two military outposts near Gensi village in Lone Khin village-tract and Aungbarlay village, according to local residents.

A prominent anti-regime protest leader in Monywa, Sagaing Region was beaten and dragged away by junta forces after having his motor scooter rammed on Thursday afternoon.
Ko Wai Moe Naing was detained after regime forces drove a large vehicle head-on into a group of motor scooters carrying him and other anti-regime protesters. After being violently knocked to the ground, witnesses said the 26-year-old was beaten and dragged away.
Since anti-regime protests broke out in early February in Monywa, a business hub on the eastern bank of the Chindwin River and the largest city in Sagaing Region, the Muslim man had been at the forefront of the rallies.
