Over the past month, two Christian prayer meetings were raided by soldiers in Eritrea, Africa leading to the arrest of 35 Christ-followers – many of them women.
According to Release International, 23 people were arrested in the capital Asmara, then 12 more people were arrested during a prayer gathering in Assab.

Of the Christians arrested in Asmara, 22 were released from Mai Sarawa prison on April 11, however, it is not known why one Christian remains in captivity.

Thirteen Eritrean Christians remain imprisoned after authorities raided two separate prayer meetings last month where 35 people were taken into custody, including several women.
Twenty-two of the 23 Christians who were arrested at a prayer meeting in the capital of Asmara last month, most of whom were women, were released from the Mai Sarawa prison last Sunday, while of all the 12 Christians who were arrested in the city of Assab, 660 miles southeast from Asmara, remain in Assab prison, where conditions are known to be harsh, the U.S.-based persecution watchdog International Christian Concern reported.

Once a petition has closed for signatures it has to be presented by an MP to the rest of their colleagues in the House of Representatives.
It’s then referred to a select committee: a smaller group of MPs from different parties who meet to work on specific subjects like health, finance or the environment.
Those committees can ask the petitioner to appear before them in person, over the phone or video conference to give more information about their request.
