(Mon, Jan 18) First up was a 560kg Limousin-cross from regular Red Rose vendors, RT&J Critchley & Sons in Hutton, Preston, which grossed £1,459, followed by a 535kg British Blue-cross from Keighley’s David Bailey, snapped up at £1,394. James Robertshaw took up his usual position at the ringside, claiming six cattle in total, all for his Robertshaw’s Farm Shop in Thornton and among them the leading price per kilo steer, a 595kg Limousin-cross from mart regulars, Threshfield brothers Charles and Richard Kitching, at 254.5p/kg, or £1,514.

Kendall’s Farm Butchers is serving up championship-winning prime pork at its two shops in Pateley Bridge and Harrogate for customers’ festive tables.
Kendall’s has now taken delivery of a trio of pure home-bred gilts that clinched the title at Skipton Auction Mart’s annual Christmas prime pigs show when shown by local breeder Daniel Thackray, of Prospect House Pietrains in Fewston.
They were picked out by the show judge, Simon Barker, who runs Barkers Yorkshire Butchers at the fully EC-registered meat production unit at mart, then purchased by him at £208 each purposely on behalf of award-winning Kendall’s Farm Butchers, one of his regular customers.
