Work building “fantastic environment for learning” at local primary school well underway
Works to extend and make alterations at a local primary school are well underway.
The extension at Barkers Lane, which started in January, will eventually house a new nursery facility and increase classroom capacity to allow for an increase of pupils from 210 to 315.
It is intended that the increase will see smaller class sizes currently at the school in addition to relieving the pressures on other English medium schools across the town centre.
The foundations for the new extension are finished, work has started on the steel frame and foundation walls have started going up ready for the floor to be put in place.

People eager to take part in outdoor fitness classes have even braved the cold weather by turning up in hats, gloves and scarves for the sessions.
A socially distanced outdoor boot camp has been running every Monday in Sprowston by ATP Health and Fitness Norwich, with extra sessions being held due to demand.
With up to 29 people allowed to be taught outside, fitness instructor Matt Philpot has been holding the sessions on Barkers Lane next to the cricket ground.
Although he said it has been frustrating not being able to hold indoor classes, Mr Philpot has seen a decent turnout as those attending bring their own towels and mats for the classes.
