What is XP used for in Destiny 2?
Before we start, it s best to explain what XP does in Destiny 2, because it is different to how the power level system works - which is increased by equipping higher numbered gear. That said, earning XP can affect your gear level also, albeit indirectly and temporarily.
In Destiny 2, you ll want to get XP to do the following:
Increase your season pass. The primary thing XP does in Destiny 2 is increases tiers of the game s version of the Battle Pass, found within the Seasons area of the menu. Every XP level earned will progress you one tier through the season pass, granting you a variety of rewards, including cosmetics, Exotic Engrams and planetary resources.
In Bungie’s weekly blog, the studio wrote about some major changes coming to
Destiny 2 in less than two weeks. When season 13 likely called Season of the Chosen, according to some leaks launches on Feb. 9, PC players will see some major recoil changes and all players will get new Seasonal Challenges. Bungie also gave a very small tease for season 13, and announced a reveal trailer coming Feb. 2.
The biggest announcement of the blog only affects a percentage of the player base. Currently, when using a mouse and keyboard,
Destiny 2 players have next to no recoil when they fire a weapon. With season 13, Bungie will adjust the difference between controller and mouse and keyboard from 40% to 20%. Mouse players will still have a 20% advantage as using a mouse is more difficult but the difference shouldn’t be as stark.
The end of Season of the Hunt is rapidly approaching, and to prepare players for the upcoming Season, Bungie has outlined a few changes in the latest This Week at Bungie. The TWAB goes into detail about new Seasonal Challenges, Bright Dust acquisition, as well as information on some highly anticipated buffs to Rocket Launchers.
Seasonal Challenges
Seasonal Challenges are a new way for players to earn XP, among other rewards. These will replace weekly bounties.
Seasonal Challenges are a new type of weekly reward that will replace, and exceed, the weekly bounties. Each week (for ten weeks) a series of challenges will unlock for players to complete, rewarding them with XP, Bright Dust, Seasonal currency, and other bits and pieces.
