Syracuse has landed one of the top defensive backs in the NCAA transfer portal. New Mexico State defensive back transfer Jason Simmons has picked Syracuse as his new landing spot over offers from Colorado, Michigan State, Mississippi State, Purdue, TCU and others. Simmons has three years of eligibility remaining.
Simmons is listed at 6-0, 193 pounds on the New Mexico State Athletics website. He started eight games at safety, where he will likely end up at Syracuse, during his true freshman season in 2019, recording 62 tackles (sixth most on the team), 4.5 tackles for loss (fifth most on the team), broke up three passes and forced a fumble. He did not play in 2020 as New Mexico State opted out of the season due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Alabama is losing one of its best special teams players to the transfer portal in reserve linebacker Brandon “Ale” Kaho.
The rising senior linebacker announced his intention to transfer from the University of Alabama earlier Friday morning via Twitter.
In his three years at the capstone the former five-star recruit’s presence was felt the most on Alabama’s kickoff and punt teams. In the 40 games Kaho played, he recorded a total of 33 tackles, with a good chunk of them coming from special teams tackles.
In addition to his tackles total, Kaho recorded three blocked punts in 2019, a number that tied the second place record for most blocks in a season in school history. He blocked one each against Texas A&M and in the Citrus Bowl against Michigan, and returned a third block for a touchdown in the Crimson Tide’s 59-31 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels.

Alabama linebacker Ale Kaho has entered the NCAA transfer portal.
During his three seasons at the Capstone, Kaho appeared in 40 games and recorded 33 total tackles, 14 solo stops, three blocked kicks, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick for a touchdown.
He played in 12 games during the Crimson Tide s 2020 national championship run, but mainly on special teams.
