Vaccine hesitancy and access are the biggest barriers the U.S. now faces in our race to end the COVID-19 pandemic. With vaccine supply expanding steadily as production increases and more vaccines coming online, the U.S. is expected to have enough doses for every American by the end of May. The medical and faith communities strong advocates for vaccine efficacy continue to make progress reversing reluctance, but much work remains addressing access barriers for medically underserved populations.   The coronavirus has been worrisome for everyone, but ethnic minority and underserved communities have been most adversely affected. In Texas, Hispanic residents have the highest rates of hospitalizations and deaths from COVID-19 complications. And as COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, we need to do everything we can to protect these communities.

Feeding Northeast Florida is hosting a drive-thru food drive Saturday with the Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 11665 Fort Caroline Road, Jacksonville, FL, 32225. The food drive is open to anyone, no proof of income is needed.  It started at 9 a.m. and will go until food runs out. People are asked to stay in their vehicles and open the trunk when they get up to the front of the line.
