Corporate hospitals expecting clarity in 2-4 days
The COVID-19 vaccination programme for the 18-44 age group could not kick start at corporate hospitals in Hyderabad on May 1 (Saturday). The COWIN website too, did not reflect any slots for the age group for the next two days at least. Heads of the hospitals here said that they are expecting a clarity on the date of delivery of doses in two to four days.
Since the Telangana government had announced that vaccines would be given free of cost to the entire population in the State, a few hospitals sought clarity on whether they have to buy vaccines from the manufacturers or the State government will provide them.

BHUBANESWAR: Amid the relentless surge of Covid-19, Bhubaneswar seems to be fast going the Delhi way. The scramble for beds by people to admit their disease-stricken kin and family members has assumed worrying proportions with private hospitals beginning to refuse patients under the plea of full-occupancy.
This comes in the face of tall claims of the State government and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) of having sufficient number of beds in the Capital city.
Most of the private hospitals have started putting up no vacancy boards and denying admissions even to those who require emergency critical care, citing dearth of beds.

More people posting SOS calls on Twitter, beds filling up at hospitals in no time
Crisis situations in finding ventilator beds at government and private hospitals in Hyderabad are slowly deepening with each passing day. This is becoming more obvious as people are posting SOS calls on Twitter, calling friends and family members, and requesting information about hospitals where ventilator beds are available.
3 to 4 weeks’ time
Heads of a few major corporate hospitals too, said that they were running out of this resource. Even if they can expand the ventilator bed facility, it would take at least three more weeks to get more ventilators.

BHUBANESWAR: Beds designated for Covid patients in all major hospitals in western Odisha, which has been witnessing a huge surge in infections, and most private hospitals in Bhubaneswar are fully occupied as the state on Thursday witnessed an all-time record of 6,164 positive cases in the past 24 hours. To tackle the rush, the state government has asked all private hospitals with a minimum of 30 beds to reserve at least half of their quota, including 50% of ICU facilities, for Covid patients.
The VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (Vimsar) at Burla, Sambalpur, has a 225-bed Covid facility. All the beds including the 50-bed ICU are occupied. “We can admit patients only when someone gets discharged,” said Vimsar principal Lalit Meher. Meher said another 300 beds are in the process of being commissioned.
