There is a new police boss in town and he is looking to point Capricornia in the right direction.
Superintendent Glen Pointing fills the role of District Officer of the Capricornia Police District, taking over from Ron Van Saane who retired last month.
Sitting down with The Morning Bulletin during his first week last week, Superintendent Pointing was finding his feet in the new role.
The Capricornia district oversees 33 police divisions across 104,859 sqm including Agnes Water, Anakie, Baralaba, Biloela, Blackwater, Calliope, Capella, Duaringa, Emerald, Emu Park, Gladstone, Goovigen, Gracemere, Lakes Creek, Many Peaks, Marlborough, Marmor, Miriam Vale, Mount Larcom, Mount Morgan, Moura, North Rockhampton, Rockhampton, Rolleston, Rosedale, Springsure, Tannum Sands, Theodore, Tieri, Westwood, Woorabinda, Wowan and Yeppoon.

Major works on a crucial Central Highlands thoroughfare will begin next week as part of a Department of Transport and Main Roads project.
The DTMR advised construction would commence in late-April on the Leichhardt Highway, south of Banana (between Westwood and Taroom) to replace the Banana Creek Bridge.
The aim of the project is to allow Cockatoo Coal to maintain access to its Baralaba Mine and operations during severe weather events and to increase its annual coal production.
The work will take place from April 19 to late-December, Monday to Saturday between 6am and 6pm.
Lane closures, speed restrictions and traffic control will be in place during active hours.

The United Nations is reportedly considering expelling global insurance giant Liberty Mutual from its $100 trillion Principles for Responsible Investment initiative after a complaint about its alleged involvement in Baralaba South coal mine plans in CQ.
Community group Save the Dawson has lodged a formal complaint with the United Nations UN over the mine, which has been elevated to the Principles for Responsible Investment UNPRI board to consider.
The proposed mine, on the banks of the Dawson River, would be located 8km south of Baralaba, about 115km southwest of Rockhampton. The site of the proposed Baralaba south coal mine.

MELBOURNE (Reuters) - UNPRI, a United Nations-backed network that promotes sustainable investment, is reviewing the status of Liberty Mutual as a signatory after receiving a complaint that the U.S. insurer is backing a coal project in Australia that has drawn fire from community groups worried about climate change and pollution.
Action group Save the Dawson lodged a formal complaint, asking UNPRI’s board to engage with Liberty Mutual to ensure it withdraws an application to develop the Baralaba South coal mine, 500 kilometres north west of Brisbane in Queensland state, before the end of the month, Paul Stephenson said.
