Man who caught couple burglarizing his house charged in deadly shooting, cops say Updated Jan 20, 2021; A Monroe County man who opened fire on a couple burglarizing his house is now facing a homicide charge in the incident that left a man dead and a woman wounded, police said. Randy Halterman, of the 2000 block of Paradise Trail in Stroud Township, was charged Wednesday with homicide, attempted homicide and aggravated assault. The 66-year-old Halterman was sent to Monroe County Prison without bail. An attorney has not yet entered an appearance for him in the case. Stroud Area Regional police said they were called at about 5:27 p.m. Tuesday to Halterman’s home for a report of shots fired in the residence.
