The Indian government has spent nearly ₹550 crores to extend 17 km of the 68.72 km Jaynagar-Bijalpura-Bardibas railway project to improve rail connectivity between India and Nepal.
The section of the railway project that runs from Madhubani district s Jayanagar (Bihar) to Kurtha in Nepal will be extended up to Bijalpura, which is further 17 km from Kurtha. The project will be ready by March 2021. Jayanagar is only 4 Km from the India-Nepal border.

PM Modi to perform Bhoomi Poojan of Ahmedabad Metro Rail project Phase-2, Surat Metro Rail Project on Monday
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will perform Bhoomi Poojan of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II and Surat Metro Rail Project on Monday, January 18. He will attend the event via video conferencing where Gujarat Governor, Union Home Minister, Gujarat Chief Minister and Union Housing & Urban Affairs Minister will be present. The Metro Projects will provide an environment friendly âMass Rapid Transit Systemâ to these cities, the Prime Minister s Office said in a statement.Â
About Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday flagged off eight trains connecting major destinations in various states of the country with the Statue of Unity in Gujarat s Kevadiya, via video-conferencing. The trains will connect Kevadiya to Varanasi, Dadar, Ahmedabad, Delhi s Hazrat Nizamuddin, Rewa, Chennai and Pratapnagar. These trains will facilitate seamless connectivity to the Statue of Unity. During the programme, the Prime Minister also inaugurated the Dabhoi-Chandod Gauge converted Broad Gauge railway line, Chandod-Kevadiya new Broad Gauge railway line, newly-electrified Pratapnagar-Kevadiya section and the new station buildings of Dabhoi, Chandod and Kevadiya. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal were also present on the occasion.

PM Modi to perform foundation stone laying ceremony of Ahmedabad Metro Train project phase 2 and Surat Metro train project on January 18.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will perform the Bhoomi Poojan (foundation stone laying ceremony) of Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project Phase-II and Surat Metro Rail Project on January 18, via video conference. The event will come just a day after the Prime Minister will flag off 8 trains facilitating seamless rail connectivity to Statue of Unity with different regions of the country on 17 January. He will also inaugurate several other projects related to the Railway sector in Gujarat.
