The Oracle riverside yesterday THE number of people who visited Reading yesterday was the same as a busy Saturday , says Reading UK. Non-essential retail and outdoor dining reopened yesterday in Reading town centre, following months of lockdown, with Reading people coming out to support their local businesses. Reading UK explained 95 per cent of the town centre retail reopened and footfall was equivalent to a busy Saturday . It added that outdoor pub and dining options were popular with visitors. Inside Broad Street Mall and The Oracle, non-essential retail shops reopened and gyms across the town also welcomed back members. Adam Jacobs, Chair Reading UK, said: “It is heartening to see Reading town centre open and customers returning, rediscovering and supporting our local businesses.

Thames Valley Police is releasing an image of a man officers would like to speak to in connection with the assault A WOMAN has been sexually assaulted in Reading s Broad Street Mall. Thames Valley Police (TVP) said at about 2.45pm on Thursday, February 17, the victim, a woman aged 18, was in the Broad Street Mall shopping centre when a man started following her. Police said: He then grabbed her bottom before leaving the scene. The force said the suspect is described as white, of stocky build and around 6ft tall. He was wearing a blue tracksuit with a black parka type jacket at the time of the incident.
LAUNCHPAD S annual pancake race on Broad Street has been cancelled this year because of the coronavirus pandemic. However, we still want to celebrate the event by taking a look back at pictures from over the years. For 23 years, Reading s leading homelessness prevention charity has run the annual pancake race to raise money for its vital work. Last year the event, supported by the Reading Chronicle and Broad Street Mall, saw a total of 37 teams of four from businesses across Reading dress in fancy dress and run relay races down Broad Street flipping pancakes along the way. Patrons of Launchpad, Sir John Madejski and Danyl Johnson, were in attendance.
