MAJOR roads across Southampton could see engineering works as part of efforts to improve safety. Roads across the city have been earmarked for possible engineering work as part of a road safety scheme. A probe is due to get underway this October with roads where there have been accidents that caused an injury to be given priority, according to the city council. Locations on the council’s shortlist include Lobelia Road and Honeysuckle Road in Swaylthing. Lodge Road at its junction with Bevois Hill junction, and Winchester Road at its junction at Hill Lane Other sites being assessed within the council’s 2021-2022 road safety programme are Itchen Bridge and Saltmarsh Road, London Road and Bellevue Road. Safety on Wide Lane is also up for review.

A man has appeared in court charged with murder, following the discovery of a body at a house.
The victim, named by police as 51-year-old Lee Gadd, was found on Monday at the property on Broad Lane, Bloxwich, in the West Midlands.
A post-mortem examination has yet to establish how he died.
Bradley Pye, 24, of Broad Lane, was remanded in custody at Wolverhampton Magistrates Court to appear at the city s crown court on 28 May.
Mr Gadd s family have paid tribute to him, describing him as a dedicated father and family man and saying they had been left devastated by his death.

A 24-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a man s body was discovered at a house.
West Midlands Police said the 51-year-old victim was found at the property in Walsall at about 10:15 BST on Monday.
Officers gained entry to the house on Broad Lane, Bloxwich, following concern for the resident s welfare.
The force said the arrested man is understood to be known to the victim and the incident is believed to be domestic-related .
The man s cause of death is yet to be ascertained and a post-mortem examination is due to take place later, the force added.
