ISLAMABAD: A 19-year-old Pakistani has become the youngest person to stand atop K2, the world s second highest mountain, the Alpine Club of Pakistan said. Shehroz Kashif reached the 8,611 metre (28,251 foot) summit at 8:10 am on Tuesday, says a foreign news agency.
Shehroz Kashif, who began climbing in his early teens, scaled the world s 12th highest mountain, 8,047-metre (26,400 foot) Broad Peak, at the age of 17. In May, he became the youngest Pakistani to scale Mount Everest, the world s highest mountain. He now holds an additional record as the youngest person to have summitted the K2 and Everest.
Several of Pakistan s youngest climbers have been on K2 in recent days. Sajid Ali Sadpara, who in 2019 became the youngest to climb K2 at the age of 20, was part of an expedition there to find the body of his father, who went missing along with two other climbers in February.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s 19-year-old Shehroz Kashif made history on Tuesday as he became the world’s youngest climber to ever stand atop K2 (8611-metre), the world’s second highest peak.
“This is a new world record. This is indeed an amazing achievement. He has made the whole nation proud,” Karrar Haidri, secretary Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP) told APP.
Haidri said prior to Shehroz, Sajid Sadpara was the youngest mountaineer to summit K2 at the age of 20 in 2019. Multiple mountaineering outfits are attempting to scale K2 this summer. On Tuesday, another Pakistani climber Muhammad Sharif also summited the peak along with Shehroz.
ISLAMABAD: Nineteen-year-old Pakistani mountaineer, Shehroze Kashif, has become the youngest person to summit the world’s second highest mountain, K2, only two months after scaling the mighty Mount Everest.
Kashif reached the 8,611-metre (28,251-foot) summit at 8:10am on Tuesday, according to the Alpine Club of Pakistan.
The teenage mountaineer had earlier scaled the world’s 12th highest mountain, 8,047-metre (26,400-foot) Broad Peak, when he was only 17.
As he became the youngest Pakistani to scale the world’s highest mountain in May, Kashif now holds an additional record of being the youngest person to have scaled both K2 and Everest.
